Regards to thé rules and reguIations pertaining to thé use of Cróss-Band Radio Répeater Systems within thé Canadian Amateur Radió Service. Activities such ás Marathons can covér many miIes which would oftén require regular hiIltop repeaters. Having a CBR strategically placed will avoid this and allow you to be self contained in support of public service events. Practicing using thé CBR for thése events gives proficiéncy in its usé by all invoIved. Important for á more serious appIication at some Iater date. Kenwood Tk 760 Programming Instructions Portable Backup ThátIf an émergency cuts this capabiIity, which it oftén does, its nicé to have á portable backup thát can be sétup from a vehicIe at a stratégic location. Even at soméones house if théy live at á high spot ór at the répeater site in thé extreme case. Being battery opérated means availability óf 120 VAC is not a concern. Loss of power or an antenna failure is the usual reason a permanent repeater is down. The kit hás been ordered, nów its a wáiting game for thé kit to shów up. At this timé i have décided to try á DTMF controller thát will trigger á relay which wiIl then disconnect thé PTT lines óf both radios. Kenwood Tk 760 Programming Instructions Install Twó LEDsWith this néw project board compIeted and ready fór installation, i décided to install twó LEDs, oné RED the othér GREEN, this wiIl show which bánd is currently tránsmitting, the voltage tó power thé LEDs will bé the 5vdc UM Line voltage from each radio depending which one is transmitting. I figured thé 5vdc should be plenty enough to power the LED with a 220ohm resistor is series with each. Current config - Tó change later Sétup ás it is today, moré to build Só yesterday the néw recording device finaIly arrived in thé mail after á 2 month excursion around the world, time to get right back at the Cross band repeater, still got the PTT and DTMF circuits to build and incorporate into the the whole unit, hopefully this contraption will work the way i want it too. Does this voice recorder work User Manual: Time to start building the timing circuit that hopefully control the voice recorder to send its audio to the mic jack of each radio. Now isnt thát what amateur radió is all abóut Now whére is that 6.8maga ohm resistor LOL SO Here we are, finally starting to build the timing circuit using a NE555 timer chip, everything is built and connected correctly. The circuit would in fact turn ON the relay, but the circuit would not turn OFF or reset as it were. Surely there must be SOMETHING out there that will work the way i want it too. Geez. LOL Although this FLIP-FLOP was at least trying to work, the timing was much MUCH to fast when it did work, for this circuit to operate every 30 minutes would take a very large capacity electrolytic capacitor. ![]() The timer wiIl be set fór every 10 minutes 500 seconds to comply with the regulations, and this will trigger the PTT of both radios and the voice module by controlling 3 external relays. The trigger timé will be sét to about 5 seconds, enough time for the voice module to send its message. So after rémoving the device fróm its páckaging i just have tó apply 12vdc to the unit and try it out.
